Louisville Punk

an incomplete archive 1978-84

At its inception, this site involves primarily the stuff I've put together from my own collection. Like a 1069 home album, but then it got bigger. I've scanned some photos from Wink, and Chas has added many jpegs. Credit here will certainly go where due. The initial core though was what I'd managed to hang onto. The hinge there is that I'm Douglas Maxson. A crew of us managed to discover and latch onto Louisville's miniscule Punk scene in mid-1979. We formed The Dickbrains in 1980. I spent most of 1981 expat on the East coast. From 1982-4 I was in Your Food. What I've hung onto probably bears the prejudice of who I was.

But then I ran into Sandy Campbell's archives. The enormity of it! When I bumped into Chip Nold's boxes, I just dipped in selectively for now.

The whole of this is just a gathered selection. This is what a lot of stuff looked like way back then.

That said, by clicking on the I AGREE below you hereby certify that you are old enough to unequivocally state that Punk Rock Rules! By clicking on the itotallyfuckingagree link you will be instantly transported to this queer land where punk rock had more effect than to make the follow-up crop of lame influenced-by bands really rich.
